Butter Kernel And Mrs. Grimes Partner With The Iowa Cubs To Contribute Over 3,000 Pounds Of Food To The Des Moines Area Religious Council
For Immediate Release
Des Moines, IA (August 21, 2007). Using a theme of "Matching Your Generosity Pound For Pound," Butter Kernel canned vegetables and Mrs. Grimes canned beans, sponsors of the Iowa Cubs, promoted two canned food drives at the August 6th and 20th Iowa Cubs games. For every item of food contributed by a Cubs fan, Butter Kernel and Mrs. Grimes would match the donation. All the products contributed were donated to support the local Des Moines Area Religious Council's Food Pantry. A total of over 3,000 pounds of food will be contributed to the food pantry as a result of the August food drives.
When asked to comment on the program, David Peterson, Branded Account Executive of Faribault Foods, who owns Butter Kernel and Mrs. Grimes, commented, "We were extremely impressed by the generosity of the Cubs fans and thrilled that over 3,000 pounds of food will go to people in need in the Des Moines area. Both Butter Kernel and Mrs. Grimes have a long, proud history in Iowa and we are very pleased to be able to make this contribution of food to the community. While this is our first year working with the Iowa Cubs, we have enjoyed our partnership very much and look forward to doing even more with them next year."
